Man has been grouped into three stages according to sociological classification of people, which are: 1-14 years of age as infant group, 15-40 years of age as youth age, 40 years and above as adult.
Many Scholars have observed that, the youth of any society makes or mar the society. The activities of the youth is as result of the experience gathered in their immediate environment mostly from what they hear and sea around them, at school, at home, Church, Mosque, political meetings what they see in their Community and political leaders.
Needs differs to different groups independently but all need shelter, quality education, qualitative health care service and other facilities that will make life more meaningful. But, despite our natural and human resources many people live in shanties, substantial number of our children are out of school, a good number of communities lacks functional Heath Care Centre and our youths continue to roam the streets aimlessly as a result of unemployment. Those who are engaged are not only under employed but are used like donkeys, yet our leaders claimed to be preparing us for the future.
Where is that future? Who leads the future? And for who? Many of our people have become third class citizens in their father land. We eat like slaves, we patronize tokunbo markets, wear tokunbo clothes including underwear's and shoes. Our under graduates attend lectures for 2 months and sit at home for 10 months. Our leaders who were beneficiaries of free education and scholarship even to study abroad has now made education the right of their children alone due to astronomical increase in school fees. Yet, we continue to sing praises and glorify these leaders who have looted the treasury under the pretense of serving the masses.
Unfortunately, they are at one time or the other students leader and youth like myself. Do they still have focus? Are they still serving their father land or the cabal? What actually do we need today?
No doubt, our society is need of youths, who are driven by passion for excellence, commitment and clear headedness to ensuring an habitable community for all. The youth, in old and recent times are the pillar of renaissance in any community, the secret of development and the bearer of flag of any idea.
Greatest Nigerian youths, you have a lot of duties, your responsibilities are enormous, the community has countless rights on you. Therefore, you have to think a lot, work hard, to make clear your positions, you have to come for the rescue of the society and give it its complete rights.
Frankly speaking, the role of the youth is highly essential because they connect the past to the future. They are to ensure continuity of orderliness. We can do it.
